 About Simon Veterinary Surgical

Dr. Simon has curated a team of rare orthopedic surgeons. Each of them possess comprehensive knowledge, experience, and proficiency in a wide range of orthopedic and advanced soft tissue procedures, making them one of the most sought after veterinary surgical teams in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Since its start in 2017, Simon Veterinary Surgical (SVS) has been anything but a traditional veterinary clinic. Dr. Simon has always had a passion for surgery and decided early on that she wanted to focus solely on this area.

As our practice had grown, so too has our team. Dr. Simon has hand-selected highly skilled surgeons, technicians, and staff from across the country that meet the rigorous SVS standards in terms of professionalism and quality of veterinary care.

Rather than offering a ‘one-stop-shop’ service like traditional veterinary clinics, our team focuses on small animal surgery. By concentrating on one specific area, we have refined our skills and are now experts in small animal orthopedic and advanced soft tissue procedures. We also keep up with the latest surgical techniques and innovations so that we are continually improving our practice.

Orthopedic surgery is its own type of medicine, requiring specialized skills. When it comes to caring for your little one, you want a surgical team with expert knowledge and extensive experience.

At Simon Veterinary Surgical, small animal surgery is our jam. We perform highly advanced surgeries every day and we are willing to take on a complicated cases. We have cultivated proficiency in our skills, so you can feel confident that your pet is in good hands.

Our pet hospital facilities are fully equipped, allowing us to offer exceptional veterinary care, surgery, diagnostic imaging, and lab work in one location.

“My mission is to build long-term, sustainable relationships by providing a healthy, friendly, and safe atmosphere that is focused on my clients and their pets.”

– Dr. Simon

Dr. Patricia Simon is a rare surgeon with comprehensive knowledge, experience, and proficiency in a range of orthopedic and advanced soft tissue procedures, specializing in Tibial-Plateau-Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery.

Dr. Simon always puts the welfare of her patients first and she knows that this is best achieved by providing the highest quality medicine available. Her standard practice always includes low stress handling methods, the most advanced pain control, and comprehensive post-operative care. Dr. Simon only recommends procedures that are in the best interest of the patient. Her goal is to get your pet back to their healthy, playful self, so her medical advice will always be made with that in mind.

In addition to orthopedics, Dr. Simon also has a background in preventative health; she obtained her Master’s in Public Health and is Board Certified in American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. When you bring your pet to Dr. Simon, you can be sure that every aspect of your pet’s health is assessed and evaluated.

As scientific research and technology advance, Dr. Simon makes a point to stay up to date with the latest techniques and equipment. She regularly engages in continuing education courses with top surgeons, on a global-level, to fine-tune her skills. In fact, Dr. Simon often receives compliments on her careful incision lines, which can be important for post-operative wound healing, not to mention the enhanced cosmetic aesthetics.

And, on a personal note, Dr. Simon is an avid cat-lover who loves spending time with her two rescues, Jelly Bean and LBK (short for Little Boy Kitty). She also has a big rescue pit named Stoopy (stands for “Stupid Happy”).

Meet the SVS Team

Jose D. – Jay Dee

Jay Dee grew up in a vet clinic, tagging alongside his dad, who has been a veterinary technician for 38 years. Early on, Jay Dee knew that he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and began working in a similar position himself in 2009. After gaining experience at multiple animal hospitals around LA, Jay Dee joined the SVS team in 2017. He is a highly skilled anesthesia and surgical tech and Dr. Simon’s go-to guy for exotic animal anesthesia, particularly rabbits. Jay Dee’s meticulous attention to detail is bar none and a reason why he is invaluable to the SVS team. Jay Dee is also a proud father of 4 children and his Pitbull, Venus.

Raul C.

Raul has been in the veterinary field for 20 years. He played a large role in the development of ACCESS, one of California’s premier specialty animal hospitals, where he gained extensive hospital management experience. Raul has a passion and talent for innovation, a key reason why he was attracted to SVS philosophy of practicing small animal surgery in a non-traditional way. Raul has been on the SVS team since 2019 and continues to help us streamline our process. In addition, Raul’s calm and compassionate character is unmatched when handling our patients and prepping them for surgery. At home, Raul enjoys spending time with his wife, his 2 kids and their 2 dogs, Brandy and Chucha.

Alma H.

Alma has always had a passion for animals, growing up with all sorts of pets – from cats and dogs to rats and reptiles. She stared working in veterinary general practice in 2014 and has assisted clinics throughout the Los Angeles area. Her talent has not gone unnoticed and SVS was thrilled to welcome her onto our team. Working as Dr. Simon’s veterinarian’s assistant, Alma effortlessly adapts to our high-pace atmosphere and can anticipate the team’s next moves to keep us all on track. During her free time, Alma likes to skateboard and go hiking, often brining her cat Chappy on the trail with her. She also has 2 other cats, Kurama and Memow.

Nathan R.

Nathan has 15 years of experience working with small businesses and financials. He believes in providing a high quality product at a reasonable price. His business philosophy mirrors that of Simon Veterinary Surgical, so when he joined the team, it was a perfect match. Nathan works closely with our clients to explain the consultation, surgery, and aftercare process so that each client knows exactly what to expect before booking their pet’s surgery. Being an animal lover himself, Nathan knows the importance of having consultation access regarding your pet’s health. For this reason, he made a point to make sure SVS offered the best customer service possible. And of course, outside of work, Nathan loves to play with his rescue Pitbull, Stoopy (which is short for “Stupid Happy” and perfectly sums up her personality).

Luke C.

Although being relatively new to the veterinary field, Luke has quickly made a big impact. He began by working for SVS as a relief tech, during which, our team began to depend on him more than we realized. Soon, it was time to call a spade a spade and ask Luke to join us full time – and what a game changer it was! Like a sponge, Luke absorbs information and seamlessly applies it to the SVS process. Of course, working with animals is nothing new for Luke. Thanks to his mom’s affinity for animals, Luke has been surrounded by pets his entire life. At the moment, he currently shares a home with 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds, and a turtle.
